Occupational Therapy

Ju Mei (Sue-May) Wei, OTR/L graduated from the University of Illinois as a psychology major, and continued her education at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago where she received her Bachelors in Science specializing in Occupational Therapy. She is a registered and licensed occupational therapist in Illinois.

She has worked in various healthcare settings specializing in work hardening and work conditioning programs, pediatric patients, workers compensation injuries, and home health. Ju Mei brings over 20 years of occupational therapy experience to our practice.

When asked about her treatment and care methods for her patients she replied, "My treatment philosophy is to help patients resume their lives at home and work by acquiring the best manual skills to address their injury. I believe in treating the whole person not just the injury. Patient education is also essential in our efforts to prevent further injury and improve patient self-care."

Occupational Therapy is designed to enable or enhance participation in the meaningful activities of daily life (self-care skills, recreation, and work) despite impairments or limitations in physical functioning. Occupational therapy is for individuals of all ages who want to improve skills that will help them perform daily tasks at home and at school, at work and at play.

Occupational therapists perform a variety of services for individuals such as rehabilitation therapy after a work injury or accident. Diagnoses treated range from carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, to fractures of the upper extremity and rotator cuff injuries. Any splint can be custom fabricated on site.
